The Gratitude Mini-chakra
You know those knobby bones that are part of our collarbone that almost come together at the bottom of our necks? Put your thumb and forefinger on those bony knobs. Above is neck, below is chest. Now slide your thumb and forefinger down your chest about two inches or so. There it is. There is the gratitude mini-chakra. It is approximately halfway between the heart chakra and the throat chakra. By the way, there is a mini-chakra between all the major chakras. Anyway, this is the approximate location of this mini-chakra. You can activate this mini-chakra of gratitude by gently tapping the fingertips of one hand (you get to pick the hand) over this area of the upper chest. Softly tap your fingertips at a rhythm you feel at ease with.
As a way of opening up the gratitude mini-chakra, I suggest this practice: Take a deep breath, releasing all thoughts from your noggin. Then begin tapping your fingertips over the gratitude mini-chakra. Once you feel comfortable with the rhythm, proclaim, either silently or aloud, this three times: "I am grateful for life. I am grateful for life. I am grateful for life." Then take a deep breath, feeling the air fill your lungs and exhale slowly.
Do this three to twenty-seven times a day for one complete lunar cycle (approximately 28 days) and your gratitude mini-chakra will come to life. It will begin buzzing and spinning like crazy whenever you feel grateful. After that lunar cycle all you have to do is gently tap your fingertips over that mini-chakra and sensations of gratitude will begin waving out over your body. You don't have to say anything or think anything; just tap. It is like a gratitude button that you can push whenever you want.
It is important to note that a healthy and vibrantly spinning gratitude mini-chakra helps to open up the path between the heart and the noggin, thus allowing for eventual complementary collaboration between the two. A fully activated gratitude mini-chakra also helps energy to flow up from the heart and into the throat chakra thereby allowing us to speak (or sing, or write) from the heart.
Every time you feel grateful for something either tap your fingertips over this mini-chakra or simply hold the palms of your hands over it. In this way we are programming the mini-chakra to know that we want to live in a state of perpetual gratitude and it will work towards that end. It will respond to our intentions. And it will get stronger and stronger the more we stop and feel and embrace gratitude. It is like muscle training except we are exercising a seemingly invisible energy vortex rather than physical muscles. It can be quite joyful to open this mini-chakra.

Opening the Heart
Who wants to talk about the human heart?
I have found that most people do not care to talk about it or think about it. It is some red muscle configuration in our chest cavity that regularly pumps blood throughout our body. It operates on its own. We do not have to think about it....unless, of course, we find ourselves dealing with (or fearing) heart disease. It is an organ that works just fine without our thinking about it. It keeps pumping and pumping every minute that we are alive. Thinking about is not necessary and talking about it is boring. Thinking and talking are the domain of that other organ--the gray matter in the noggin--and that other organ thinks it is the most important organ.
But the heart has an electromagnetic field that is much, much stronger than that of the noggin. The heart is the very center of our physical form and it is also the center of our bio-field. It does much, much more than just pump blood. It is the center of our vertical chakra system and it is also the center of our horizontal interface with our physical reality. (The noggin is merely a peripheral tool.) The heart is the vessel or opening through which the energy and consciousness of our Source flows through us. It is what enables us to express in physical form while retaining our connection to Source. It is what allows us to bring unconditional love into our reality and it is also what allows us to experience unconditional love while in physical form.
In the evolutionary trajectory of humankind we developed advanced, complicated noggins. This has been both beneficial and necessary in order to stay within that spiritual evolutionary imperative but at the same time it has created some pretty nasty problems. We can see the noggin as a biological computer system we developed to help us on our evolutionary trajectory. We can see the ego as the operating system and search engine of that computer system. Like Microsoft and Google, our ego wants to control everything. It does not take well to competition and it wants to be the supreme organ. It wants to distract our attention away from that much more powerful organ, the heart.
While humankind as a whole is currently centered on and focused on the noggin, it is my opinion that to make the next step in our evolutionary trajectory we must move our focus and attention back to the heart. Through opening our hearts we open the floodgates of universal Source consciousness, which is infinitely more infinite than the conscious workings of the noggin. The noggin is capable of processing humongous amounts of data--data that has been inputted into it from our senses and our past history and from the programming of mass consciousness. The heart, however, is capable of processing the very Source energy and consciousness that we were created from, which essentially includes All That Is.
The noggin has been responsible for taking us to where we are now. It is time for the heart to take over and take us to where we have been going to all along. That is just my opinion, of course.
The way I see it, we are at a crossroads in our spiritual evolutionary trajectory. We are in a time when it is imperative that we refocus on and reopen our hearts. It is, after all, our hearts that allow unconditional love to enter and flow through us. Unconditional love transforms all things! Every problem and struggle that humankind faces can be transformed with unconditional love. The noggin is incapable of processing unconditional love. It can conceptualize it but it cannot express it. Only the heart can do that. And the heart cannot actually express it; it can only allow it to come through and BE expressed.
The heart is a valve that controls the flow of unconditional love through our physical being.
What will catapult humankind into a higher octave of vibratory awareness and expression is the collective opening of our hearts. Unconditional love is waiting to transform our world. The only thing necessary for that to occur is the collective opening of the human heart. We can change our thinking and see minor results but we can open our hearts and see and experience massive, monumental change. It all comes down to the opening of a valve. That valve is the human heart.
